Coalition

Through a global Coalition of research funding organisations, research performing organisations, national/regional assessment authorities and agencies, as well as associations of the above organisations, learned societies and other relevant organisations, signatories of the Agreement will work together to enable systemic reform on the basis of common principles within an agreed timeframe, and to facilitate exchanges of information and mutual learning between all those willing to improve research assessment practices.

The interim secretariat of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) is provided by Science Europe, the European University Association (EUA) and the European Commission.

Work is currently taking place to develop the governance and operations of the CoARA, in co-creation with its prospective members. A closer to final version of the governance documents will be presented and discussed at the next Stakeholder Assembly, planned to be held in October 2022.

The official launch of CoARA will take place during the first meeting of the General Assembly of members of the Coalition (the “Constitutive Assembly”) during which the main governance documents will be adopted, the Steering Board will be elected, and the organisation(s) due to host the Coalition Secretariat will be selected. This “Constitutive Assembly” is expected to take place towards the end of 2022.
